MICROPOST: Louis Vuitton and…Anime?

A few days ago, Monica Kim, Research Editor on Vogue.com, wrote a brief, yet interesting article from this year’s Paris Fashion Week. With regards to Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2016 ready-to-wear fashion show, it seems there may have been more than a few homages to popular anime (And video games as well).

Considering what this blog is all about, I dork-gasmed upon hearing about this mix of high-end fashion and anime/gaming culture! And the fact that it involved Louis Vuitton, my absolute favourite fashion brand, was the icing on the cake.

Model Fernanda Ly (LEFT) walks the runway wearing a tiara, which may or may not have been a reference to Usagi Tsukino of Sailor Moon (RIGHT).

I’m not sure if Nicolas Ghesquière (Creative director of Louis Vuitton) is a huge, closet otaku or if he just chose to make these references for the sake of this season’s clothing line, but I’d like to think the former for my own satisfaction.
